Argh, what a week to come down with the plague! I was not in any shape to approach this episode of Joan in a rational way. I know there's stuff about it that will bug me later, but at the moment I'm just a bowl of sentimental, sniffling oatmeal. Now there's an image. But I have so much love for this show, even when it's cheesy. "And thanks for leaving a message with my father, the rabbi, that you want to spend the night with me building a gun." Ha! Oh, and I loved Rocky's mom, and her reaction to Joan's eulogy. The priest looked a bit boggled, but Sylvia totally got it. She and Joan have great chemistry. I'll miss both of the Tardios a lot, I think. I loved Joan getting flattened by "the big picture." Nice touch (as was Helen chalking it up to lack of breakfast). I loved the Science Fair in all its geeky glory. And then there was "Jane," and the handholding, and the kiss. I would have preferred a slower reconciliation, and Adam and Joan have miles to go yet, but still, awwww. Overall, I liked many, many things about the episode, and I really need to see it again.

The good news (for me, at least) is that I'm feeling better than I have been, so I'm hoping to spend some of tomorrow catching up on everything I've left hanging all week. I know no one's likely to get tremendously insulted when I don't respond to a comment for a few days (or to an email for ages and ages- please don't hate me [livejournal.com profile] kathlaw! *g*); it's not usually a crisis. But I still feel guilty. Which is funny when you consider how rarely I email or write to my older sister, just because I'm lazy. I'm a lousy correspondent. Oh well.

Eeeee, love, love, love for my show! I definitely need to dig up my My So-Called Life tapes and see how Joan compares. Pretty darn well, I'm thinking.

Hee! Great scene (poor, poor Will). I also liked, "I'm on painkillers." This was a surprisingly funny episode, considering it was built on death and suicide. Pretty neat.

Kevin showed remarkable restraint in his embarassment at being seen in nothing but a hospital gown by his (*cough*) boss.

He did, didn't he? I would have spontaneously combusted out of embarrassment, but Kevin must be made of sterner stuff.

I'm glad they acknowledged their vibe right out like that and all, but I can't say I'd be thrilled if they actually dated, at least not this early in the game. Like Rebecca said, she's his boss (and she's older, though we don't really know by how much). Oh well.

::embarassing squeals of delight::

My love is unimaginable. Wasn't that fabulous? I'm still squealing an hour later. And, ITA, the resolution was a bit fast (as was the kissing...hello!) but it was still adorable. Maybe they'll mitigate the speed with Issues later on. You never know.

Overall, though, overall I have much love. And I noticed the Jane, too! All because of you, though. You know me, I'm oblivious unless you bash me over the head with these things.

And I'm glad you're feeling better! Much love and chocolate your way. ;)

The ending and the kiss were pretty abrupt, but they were so cute that my hopes are all raised again, darn it! But for now (unless and until they tell me otherwise) I'm interpreting the kiss as them being so swept up in the moment and the letter and the feathers and Ms. Lischak the Bionic Woman that they just couldn't contain their giddiness. So **bam**- the kiss. That's also my excuse for the fact that I spent the next forty-five minutes after the show ended bouncing around my house giggling. The moment and the letter and the feathers and Ms. Lischak the Bionic Woman. Yep. ;)

I'm dreading the inevitable DOOOOOOM, of course, but that was such a sweet ending. I just hope they don't torpedo it all next week, because I'd like to float on it a bit, you know? It was just so sweet!

So not the drama

I should have used one of my KP icons, given the subject line, but I had to show off one of my two new Eowyn ones. :-) Full-page ad in Daily Variety this past week for her for best supporting. I had no clue Miranda Otto was 36 years old!

But seriously, "So not the drama" about e-mail. Yes, I'd love a reply, but you've been seriously sick. You're totally forgiven.

I liked, "My So-Called Life" but didn't see it until it was on Bravo or A&E in repeats. But my favorite character was the best friend, played by AJ Langer. She was totally wonderful. Claire Danes was good, as always, but too much like me in some ways to really enjoy watching.

I veddy much like the new Eowyn icons (I had to bop over to your profile and see the other one too, once you mentioned it). Shiny! Miranda's 36? Gosh, I had no idea. I really want to track down some of her other movies, though that's probably not possible around here. Maybe I should finally give Netflix a try. Have you heard anything scary or evil about them? Most people seem to think their system works pretty well, but I'm not quite sure.

An email is definitely coming, but, um, not tonight. God I'm a slug. But it's taken me an entire afternoon to write three comments, and while I can hold it together for the space of five sentences, I'm not sure how coherent an email would turn out. Not very, I think. I'm rather rambly today, and not in a good way. Tomorrow, though, is going to be better. Yep. It is.

I was hugely addicted to MSCL back in the day, and I still call Tom Irwin "Angela's Dad," much to the confusion of my family. Claire Danes was brilliant, but yeah, Angela was a bit too close to home to be a truly comfortable character. Rayanne and Rickie, though... I was so disappointed when the show was cancelled and those characters were gone. sniff. MSCL is right up there with Firefly and Brimstone in the pantheon of shows I'm still bitter were cancelled, long after the fact. Networks are pretty much the only things I can hold a grudge against, but they so deserve it.

I've heard nothing but good stuff about them. There are only two reasons I haven't subscribed -- first I have a Blockbuster almost literally next door, and second I tend to do orgies of movies -- got 8 last time I was there, and am indulging myself, and then I likely won't rent again for months. I also am good about returning stuff, so very rarely (almost never) have late charges. So their three-at-a-time limit is ... well ... limiting. :-)

I *think* MSCL is on DVD but available only via the Net. I vaguely remember hearing that a year or so ago anyway. FWIW.

BTW - love the Gorey card and since I still have the cards all displayed on my office double-doors (birthday on one, winter celebrations on the other), the timing was great. And not tacky at all with the money order.

Neat, I think I will have to check out Netflix after all. It might be my only way to get to see some of these smaller films without having to buy them, and everyone seems to think their system works fine. Thanks!

MSCL is out on DVD (yay!), but it's $70 or so, so I haven't made the leap yet. Now that Firefly has been acquired, though, MSCL and Nero Wolfe have moved up to share the number one spot on my wish list. Someday, they shall be mine! Mwa ha haaaa! Heh.

Oh good, I'm glad you liked it! I can never resist a Gorey drawing.
