Jul. 1st, 2003 11:48 amHappy Birthday, Canada!
and Happy Birthday, Dominic Keating, too!
Normally I would celebrate by watching something Dominic filmed in Canada, but the only thing I have is The Immortal, and I can't go through that pain again just yet. Actually, wait, I think Love Street may have been filmed in Vancouver... "Happy Canada Day! I'm watching porn to celebrate!" Er, no. Maybe I'll just read Enterprise fic while pining for Toronto (yummy restaurants... bookstores... theaters and museums and sushi as far as the eye can see... whimper). That seems festive, doesn't it?
Forgot some stuff- An old Salon article on Holiday, in the hopes that if you haven't seen it, you'll give it a try. It really is a wonderful movie, even if you aren't a Katherine Hepburn/Cary Grant cultist like I am.
And the Johnny Depp quiz (from
sffan) ( which is a big pic, so I'll cut it )
I'm posting it at all mostly because I know my mother reads this (hi mom!), and she likes to take these quizzies. There's no way I could take that and not cheat, because I know his movies too well, so I totally cheated. Fitting, considering Corso's shaky scruples. I loved that movie right up until the last act, which went all to hell (badump ching!). It was different than the book, of course, but it kept a good bit of that Perez-Reverte decadence, decay and pulpiness I love so much. And Johnny was great (nice looking too)- I've always had a weakness for him, yeah, but he did a wonderful job even without my myopic, rosy vision. Plus, Frank Langella. I'm pretty much convinced at this point that he is Satan, and he's just moonlighting as an actor because he's bored.
