Somewhat strange item listing on Ebay (and I quote)- "Lloyd Webber By Jeeves sheet music gay." Errr... okay? Good to know, I guess.

Am still looking for pirate fic (leave me links if you have 'em, pretty please), but honestly, it's daunting. I had no idea how much appallingly bad writing existed in this world. I mean, I knew, but it never really sank in, you know? But now as I wade through archive after archive, in fandoms I've loved for years and fandoms I've scarely dared consider lest my brain catch some terrible disease, I'm just... boggled. Oh well, faint heart ne'er won fair fanfic, and every buckle could use a good swash. Yes indeed.

Huzzah! I finally found my Season 5 Highlander tapes! I'd obviously put them someplace where I thought they'd be safe and easy to find. Yeah. Six months I've been looking for them now.

But no matter, they're here, they're fine and they're full of Methosy goodness. Mom should be pleased, too- if she enjoyed the subtext in Season 4, no doubt she'll enjoy Season 5 even more, depressing as it can be. "Modern Prometheus" ought to be a treat. She's always had a thing for the Romantic poets (the Romantics and the Cavaliers. Mom's a wild woman), so Byron should go over well. Plus, Jonathan Firth. Yum.

As for me, I'm off to wallow in the Horsemen eps for a while. It's been far too long. Even wretched Cassandra, easily my least favorite recurring character in the series, can't ruin those for me. There's just too much that's wonderful about them- the Jimmy scene, Methos the Biggest Bad, supportive, protective Joe, "I want to believe" Duncan, Kronos the worst ex ever... I love these episodes!

And I've always wanted a Silas of my own. I could keep him supplied with wooden flutes and horses and monkeys, and he could smite my enemies into their constituent atoms. It'd be great!

with thanks to [livejournal.com profile] taraljc for mentioning the new Sequential Tart. Usually it occurs to me around the 15th, "Hey, it's a new month, isn't it. There's a new Tart up!" Calendars are not my friends. Anyway. From "Tart to Heart: The Second Annual Tarties!":

"Finally, where last year there was an award for Best Simian, this year we have three comics which broke new ground outside of monkeys (which are soooo last year):

The first comic to realize that Pirates are the new Monkeys: Scurvy Dogs.

The first comic to realize that Zombies are the new Monkeys: Teenagers From Mars.

And The first comic to realize that "Cowboys are the new Zombies, which are the new Pirates, which are the new Monkeys" (I quote the author, Matt Fraction): Last of the Independents."

I'm not much for monkeys, but pirates, zombies and cowboys? Oh yeah.

I am just Mistress Spam today, aren't I? But this made me laugh out loud, and I couldn't resist. Apologies all around. From Jill Matrix's blog:

"Can you believe that this guy is the blond, blue-eyed elf from Lord of the Rings? Beautiful man, with any coloring, but doesn't he almost make an adorable lesbian? You know I'm right, ladies."

(Seriously, though, what happened to his hair? Slightly disturbing look, there.)
