A wee request for help...
Jul. 1st, 2003 06:19 pmand last spam of the day, I promise. Not to mention, a golden opportunity to dispel any wacky ideas out there that I might have a modicum of taste or intelligence. Ah well, I'll be happier without my pride, I'm sure.
I'm trying to collect links to fanfic set in pirate AUs (don't ask why, just go with it). Any fandom**, whether or not the stories are any good. Actually, I'd assume "good" stories would be vastly outweighed by "trashy purple prose with off-kilter characterization"- pirates often have that affect (not always, put down the torches and hay rakes). Does anyone know of any pirate fic they could throw my way? Remember, bad is good- I won't mock you for "recommending" a lousy story. If all a certain story seems to be wanting is a score by Korngold and maybe a cameo by Basil Rathbone, it's what I'm looking for.
So far I only have two, a Mag7 story, A Pirate's Heart (Chris as Errol Flynn, sort of, and poor Ezra as his lovely Olivia de Havilland), and a Highlander story, Brought to Heel: A Codpiece Ripper (pirate Methos tames captive Duncan. yee haw). But I know there are more out there. Help?
** Okay, any fandom except Pirates of the Caribbean. Yes, I'm looking forward to it with an embarrassing amount of enthusiasm, but it just seems weird to me that there's already fic out there and it hasn't even opened yet. Besides, that's too easy. Pirate AUs of non-pirate universes only, por favor. Well, I guess I can stretch it to include highwaymen, privateers, and other exceedingly swashbuckling types, but mostly pirates.
Speaking of pirates, I nicked this from
skripka:

You Are A Pirate!
What Type Of Swashbuckler Are You?
brought to you by Maddog Varuka & Dawg Brown
But really, I think we established that weeks ago, don't you? Fun quiz, though. Some very cute questions, and all the answers were good.

It's been awhile since I've read it, but I loved it three years ago in my "Just found Slash!" days.

Date: 2003-07-01 11:18 pm (UTC)Just thought of another one, but I think it's only in a zine: The Colonial Affair by Hephaistion, a Napoleon/Illya from MFU with Pirate!Napoleon and Captured British Officer Now Cabin Boy!Illya.
