It's a beautiful sunny day! Not too hot, not too cold, and most importantly, not raining. Beowulf, Beowulf, Beowulf! But first (since I type slowly and distractedly, the more so when I actually have things to say), other stuff.

Why did Ming-Na Wen drop her family name? I never remember to call her just Ming-Na. Oh well. Fifty-six days until the Mulan SE. Too long to wait! But I wonder which music video is the one Jackie Chan's in, since IGN says "Reflection" (a slightly strange choice, methinks) and Ultimate Disney says "I'll Make A Man Out Of You". I think UD's listing is the official press release, so I'm going with that for now. And it's too bad that Region 3 gets a CoCo Lee video (Mulan music in Mandarin, neato) and we get stuck with La Aguilera again. Fie. Oooh, deleted scene pics. I wonder if the deleted song will be animated or storyboarded. 56 daaaaaaaays...

Seven days until The Storyteller: Greek Myths is out! One wee little week. I actually don't think I saw this show the first time around. At least, I remembered episodes from The Storyteller for all those years, and I don't remember any from Greek Myths, though by then I was older and more scattered and they just might not have stuck... guess I'll know in seven days!

Man, I've been kicking myself for years for not buying the Queen of Swords videos when they came out. They were expensive and I just couldn't swing it, but it's haunted/bothered/frustrated me ever since. And when they show up on eBay, they're still out of my price range. I didn't bid on this set, since it opened at eighty bucks (ouch), but I kept an eye on it anyway, and look- $135. For used videos. Makes me wish I had one set to keep and one to sell. Why is there not a DVD set for this show? It's only one season, so it's not a big commitment for the company or the customer, and they can target the ads to Highlander fans. We'll buy anything, especially if it has Peter Wingfield looking dusty and edible. Yeah, that's it- ads focusing on Peter looking dusty and edible, Valentine scowling and preening, and Tessie... being quiet and looking pretty (oy, Tessie. Nice, sweet girl, but not, perhaps, an actress). Maybe a set would be a little tougher to do now that Fireworks is defunct, I dunno, but A.D. Vision is still releasing Andromeda and Mutant X, so it must not be impossible (not that I'm holding my breath for more Relic Hunter from Koch. Pity, that). If it were my property, I'd release the show to ride on The Legend of Zorro's coattails (cape?), since it looks like that film's actually happening now (and supposedly Rufus Sewell's in it! Rufus and Antonio together, aiieee!). But then MGM didn't grab their opportunity to make some bucks off The Magnificent Seven, even though Ron Perlman just had a hit movie, Michael Biehn has a new show, and Eric Close is on one of CBS's ratings sweethearts. Obviously there's some complicated showbiz math there that I just don't get. But seriously, production companies, if I'm willing to buy your cheesy, cancelled show that's just gathering dust anyway, why are you not willing to take my money? I'm a geek with a credit card! Sell me things!

You know, I'm pretty sure I recorded all of QoS. Give me a bit to check, but I could easily run a copy off for you. It won't be brilliant, given they were recorded off TV, but still... (They'd be in NTSC format. Is that all right?)

Oh my gosh. That would be so very cool! If it's possible and not a hassle, I mean, of course (and NTSC is always fine). I have about four and a half episodes on tape, which isn't very satisfying. It's a cruel tease, really.

It never got the press the original series did, and I'm pretty sure it only ran on Showtime. At least, that's where I caught it, and that was quite by accident. It's a similar formula to the first series, only with Michael Gambon hosting instead of John Hurt, though they did keep the wise-ass dog sidekick. I only saw two or three episodes, and I have no idea how many were actually made and aired, but I do remember liking what I saw. Will definitely have to get the set as soon as it comes out.

That would explain it. I saw the original on CBC, and they'd be a lot less likely to pick up a cable show than one on... NBC I think had the original. That's even more exciting, though, since they'll be entirely new episodes to me. Cool! Plus, Michael Gambon. Definitely cool. And only a few more days to wait, hurrah! *g*

Yeah, oddly, I don't think the industry people quite understand this. Stupid gits.

It shouldn't be. The thing about the industry is that product never dies. It just gets shelved in the huge libraries all these companies have. No matter that the company went out of business someone would have bought their library. It's probably a matter of interest. I mean, look at the show. Not exactly a ratings darling, as I'm sure you know. They figure people won't buy it.

Actually, when I become a gazillionaire I plan on buying up all the shows that I loved and that never went to ancilliary markets. No, really. I have a list. ::waves list:: QoS, S:AAB (though that one may be tricky), Deepwater Black/Mission Genesis, Threat Matrix, The Agency. Okay, that last one? Purely nostalgia. But still. I'm gonna do it. Just you watch me.
