So, a month until Century City...
I keep forgetting that it's Thursday. Six, seven times today I've absolutely dead sure that it was Wednesday, which doesn't bode well for the rest of this week. Thursday, self, not Wednesday, so remember to watch CSI/WaT tonight. Argh, this week is endless. Anyway, here's an article on WaT, with small spoilers for tonight's ep and next week's, plus one big Danny spoiler (nonspecifically "upcoming"). I've no idea if it's the same spoiler posted this morning by
nekosmuse, since she'd deleted it by the time I got online, but it doesn't sound like the same one. Anyway.
Right then, Ioan Gruffudd! Yay for Ioan, he's a much happier thing than this season of WaT has been. The official site for his new "Lawyers! of The Future!" show, Century City, is up, though it's still pretty bare bones. I'm fairly leery about this show, Ioan, Viola Davis and Hector Elizondo notwithstanding. Was the world in desperate need of another lawyer show? This particular variation on the theme has potential, but not all of that potential is for good, and while I might have a weakness for genre cheese like, say, The Outer Limits, the networks tend not to agree. So we'll see. With the right people involved, it could be good. Maybe. Ioan's the "self-critical and earnest" young associate, of course. At least it's a type he has a knack for playing. I'm amused to see Nestor Carbonnell's character is a lawyer-slash-former congressman. Dang, that's evil. Senor Senior Senior must be so proud of his boy. And the wardrobe people seem to be pushing the Gattaca angle pretty hard with Kristin Lehman, who's a familiar face from a big pile of the aforementioned genre cheese (hope that's not a bad sign). I mean, she was in Psi Factor. She's paid her dues. So I hope Century City lives up to its cast and crew. We'll see in a month, I guess.

no subject
Re:

However. An agent changing his name? A twist? At least they didn't say it was unique.
Let's all say it with me now: Profiler.
Not. Bitter.
Re:
See, I had Danny pegged as an only child, like Martin. My batting average is not so good. Oh well. But I guess it's as good a reason to change your name as any.
I never got to see Profiler, but I'm totally not surprised that they're nicking things from other shows. Again. With luck it won't be done with too many anvils (and a M/D scene for the big reveal would be good, but I'm not holding my breath).
Re:
Hmm. I always thought of him as the youngest, myself. What with the happy-go-lucky, look-at-me! thing he's got going on.
But I guess it's as good a reason to change your name as any.
Only if they do it well, though. I mean, Profiler did it masterfully, so WaT is going to have a lot to live up to. I think it's especially hard because the show is so focused on the cases and not on the personal lives of the agents. That's going to make it much tougher to reveal this with any kind of depth and sensitivity.

The parallels with Profiler are really astounding. Either someone watched that show and liked it, or there are a hell of a lot of coincidences going on. And I'm not one who believes in coincidences, so...
We can always hope that that revelation is made to Martin, but I don't think it will be. Wasn't it Viv who asked Danny what his real name was a few eps back? I bet they'll pick up on that and it'll be between the two if them. But I could be wrong.
Re:
I hadn't looked at it like that before, but yeah, that works. See, I knew you could fix it! *g* Now with any luck, the writers will have been using their brains when writing that episode, instead of the Magical Dartboard of Characterization ("Aaaaand... Martin hitchhiked across country!" "Great shot!").
Darn, I really wish I'd seen Profiler. Sounds like it was a good one. Which works out well for WaT, I suppose, if someone on the staff worked on it or was just a really big fan. Why bother to steal from a bad show, after all?

Yeah, no, it was Viv in the scene when the subject first came up, so I agree that it'll probably be her this time around. I was just thinking wishfully. It could be such a great scene... nah, it'd never happen.
