I have many, many comments to catch up on, but meh, not tonight. Too sleepy. I also had a post on the Original Score category at the Oscars and how whimsically its rules have been applied over the years lurking in my brain for weeks, but I lazed around so long that it seems a bit silly to do it now. Lucky for everyone, trust me. This year's noms are interesting (overall, I mean, not just for Score- I can't really comment on Score until I hear House of Sand and Fog, even though it's Horner and I've probably heard it twenty times already). I'm very surprised to see Johnny Depp up there. Not that he'll win, because he doesn't have a prayer, but still, very cool. And I know I'll probably get thrown out of the fandom for saying this (not to mention disowned by my mother), but I don't think Sean Astin was unfairly overlooked. Paul Bettany, yes, but Sean? Nah. I just was never as enamoured as most were by his performance in this movie, I guess. He was good, don't get me wrong, but I thought he was better in the first two. I would have given a nod to Bernard Hill, myself. And Andrew Lesnie was robbed blind. Stupid Academy. But anyway. Interesting nominations with not a few surprises.
What am I doing, this was just supposed to be a GIP. And so it shall be... tah dah! Maxine of Arc icon! Huzzah! It was a gift from the ever-fabulous
castalianspring, 'cause she's just cool like that. Isn't Jane Wiedlin a cutie? Perkiest Joan of Arc ever. I'd love it if she showed up as God on Joan of Arcadia- it would be fun for those who got it, but she's not so recognizeable that it would be distracting. And hey, she's even sort of doing the Godwave in my icon. It's a sign! Most excellent. *g*

I'm hesitant to comment about the actor nominations, b/c I'm so terribly biased about the LOTR cast. I'd give every one of them an Oscar :) But yeah, Lesnie was shafted.
