True enough, but I'm posting it mostly because I like the picture of Phil Ochs. I have a weakness for Phil Ochs. Brilliantly talented and fatally unstable, Phil Ochs was and is one of the essential protest singers. It's a little disturbing how many of his anti-war, anti-racism, anti-ignorance, anti-abuse-of-governmental-powers songs aren't dated nearly forty years later.

Gee, that's a cheerful note to sleep on. Um, Happy New Year anyway. May it be a better one than the last.

You make me want to look up this Phil Ochs, who I'm sorry to say I haven't heard of.

Happy New Year to you as well, Joan!

I probably wouldn't have heard of him either if my mom weren't such a fan, since he killed himself before either of us were born (er, you and me, not my mom and I. Obviously *g*), and his albums have only started coming out on CD in the last few years. But apparently my mom went to see him every time he played in Boston, back in the day, and she still has a bunch of his records. So that helped. He's not the most cheerful folksinger of the 60's, but he's one of the better ones.

I hope your new year is off to a good start! And that vacation has been fun- you're probably going back to work soon, right? Hopefully the kids will be good now that Christmas is out of their systems. :)

Huh, neat. It's nice when parents pass down interests like that. Especially obscure music :)

So far my new year has been pretty good. Uneventful, really :) But yeah, I go back to work on Tuesday. Can't say I'm exactly looking forward to it, but the first week will probably be absurdly easy, and it'll be nice to be back on a regular schedule again.

Hopefully the kids will be good now that Christmas is out of their systems. :)

Oh yes, a resounding amen to that!
