GIP!

And then I must sleep, but first I had to show off the snazzy new Joan icons that [livejournal.com profile] alethialia made for me. I have Joan and Adam shininess! Huzzah!

In general, Joan makes me want to dig out the old My So-Called Life tapes, but Adam himself makes me want to watch Say Anything, specifically the bit where Corey asks DC and Rebecca, "If you were Diane Court, would you honestly fall for Lloyd?" And they all say "yeah." Adam is my new Lloyd. Yeah.

Very snazzy indeed!

Pray tell, what's Say Anything?

Ooh, Say Anything. Essential flick of my formative years, and one of John Cusack's best roles. He/Lloyd is smitten with beautiful, brainy, successful class leader Diane Court (Ione Skye), and finally asks her out right after graduation. They date, she falls for him, she breaks up with him (and he says the immortal "I gave her my heart and she gave me a pen"), they get back together, they fly off into the sunset (in a plane. It's not X-Men, after all). Pretty straightforward, but well done. And Lloyd is a wonderful character. He's been one of my fictional boyfriends for years. Diane's okay, but she's not good enough for Lloyd. Plus, his closest friends are all girls, which is neat- Corey (Lili Taylor) is the favorite, because "she's written 65 songs, 65! They're all about [her ex, Joe]. They're all about pain," like "Joe Lies" ("Joe lies/ Joe lies/ Joe lies/ when he cries"). But DC and Rebecca are cute, too, and it's just neat that Lloyd mostly hangs out the girls. Again, not unlike Adam. Anyway, good movie, great John Cusack, well worth a rent.

Ooh, I like John Cusack. It sounds like a good flick; I'll have to add it to my list of things to rent.
