"Undo." Why is there no "undo" on LJ? Come back, lengthy unfinished post I've been writing since Friday! Come back!

Alas. I wish I could bring back the past. For the future, however, you may find the need to become GOOD FRIENDS with the copy function and the text editor of your choice, when using a system of archival that otherwise depends on the Internet Gremlins . . .

That's the worst part. I had the thing highlighted because I said to myself, "If anything happens, I'm going to lose this whole new section. So I'd better copy it to the file where I have the first itty-bitty bit saved." And then my finger bumped the keyboard, the cursor missed "copy" and hit "paste," and it was all over. I could seriously cry.

And, completely irrelevantly, I just noticed you have the same name, color scheme, and fannish predilections as [livejournal.com profile] azurelunatic.

So you may want to go check out her LJ to distract you from your ARRGH. :-)

Ah, good plan, distractions are good. Thanks!

Um. This is probably going to make you feel worse, but for future reference, if you paste over something in LJ you should be able to hit ctrl+z and get it back. That works in my Semagic client and in the online update screen, at least in my experience.

I had no idea. Thanks, that'll be really helpful in the future (it's not the first time I've done this, it's just the most extreme and painful case). This time I just get to cry and throw things, though. I can't even say I hate computers, since it was my fault. But I still hate them.

NOOOOOOOOO! You lost your Joan thoughts? It's a tragedy. ::sniff::

I feel for you. :(

Thanks. I was on a roll, too (at long last). And then Mr. Price stole my boat mojo! Wah!

I can reconstruct, I think. More or less. No computer's going to defeat me! (wah!)

::kicks Mr. Price:: He sucks all the joy out of life. Hmph!

Good luck with your reconstruction. Don't give in to the computer gods. You show weakness and they'll never forget. Be strong!

The one good thing is that now I have a name for The Scariest Computer In The World (since TSCITW is a bit unwieldy). Gozer is dead, long live Mr. Price!

Oh no! I so hate it when something like that happens. Even if you can rewrite what you had, it never seems to be as witty as the first draft.

Exactly! It's so frustrating. All those clever little jokes and deep insights, gone for good (and while they probably weren't nearly as clever or deep as they seemed at the time, it's still annoying).
