Quote of the Day

From the Fringedwellers' commentary on FotR (thanks again to [livejournal.com profile] thenightsfall for the recc):

"Absolutely my favourite moment in the entire film. You can hear it all in Boromir's voice, I said we should make for the gap of Rohan, we could have had reinforcements and been halfway to Mordor. I said this was a bad idea, but no, nobody listens to Boromir, we have to follow the directions of a halfling who doesn't know which way up to hold the map and now we have to fight Orcs and... 'They have a cave troll.'"

You can *hear* him rolling his eyes.

You can, it's fabulous! I just love that moment. And the website is a riot. Smart, snarky and (naturally) in tune with the greatness of my favorite characters. But of course. *g*

Me too! That line could've really sucked with the wrong delivery, but good old Bean came through. His performance made me fall totally in love with Boromir, something the books had never managed to do.

Oh, me too. I didn't hate book!Boromir, but he was far from my favorite character. But SB's performance was so textured and so sensitive that I fell and fell hard for the character. Movie!Boromir is so wonderful that he's even vastly improved my opinion of book!Boromir, which is a nice side effect (though the lack of the visuals and the voice are a shame).

I'd hazard a guess it was the sword lesson scene with Merry and Pippin that cemented my love for Boromir. So cute, that. And I was sniffling so much when he died.
