One R, two Bs.

One R, two Bs.

Caribbean.

There are places in the world that are difficult to spell. This really shouldn't be one of them.

And the difficulty of spelling "Caribbean" can be mitigated with one simple click of the spell checker...

I can understand misspelling there, they're, and their every once in a while, especially when the spell checker misses them, but to misspell words that can be checked, frankly, is laziness, and it drives me up the wall.

Exactly! It takes mere seconds to check the spelling. These authors don't have seconds? I just don't understand that sort of shoddy, careless workmanship.

I don't understand it either. Sure, it's just fan-fiction, but damn, they should take pride in their work. They shouldn't post it to prove what an idiot they are, but post it to show their intelligence, dedication, creativity, or whatever.

Precisely. If they don't care enough to spell simple place names correctly, why should I care enough to read their stories? I can understand the occasional mistake with homophones. It annoys me (grammar geek), but I understand it. But they should at least get the obvious things right. Sheesh.
