I woke up this morning and felt good. Healthy, happy and full of energy, for the first time... gosh, in over two weeks now. Bounced out of bed, boinged down the hall and thwocked into the doorframe, hard. That's normal- I have the coordination and depth perception of a woman who should never, ever be a fighter pilot. But my careening amuses the cats, thereby fulfilling my purpose in life (which is twofold. A- feed cats. B- amuse cats. very simple).

So, healthy. Wow, I'd forgotten how nice that is. Only now I have a billion things to catch up on, RL and fannish. All this shiny new fic to read! Yay! And I owe piles of feedback, the next bit of the Beowulf-blather, and an answer about varieties of elves for [livejournal.com profile] makamu (I'm so, so sorry for the holdup. I was so involved with sickness, suffering and self-pity that elves were the last thing on my mind. Well, no, taxes were. But then elves. You should have just gone ahead anyway).

And I want to talk about comics a bit- it's fannish enough that I won't feel guilty, and I need to crow about Hawaiian Dick. So very fabulous. That'll probably be my next post. But first, fic to read! Hurray!

So late last week, TVShowsOnDVD.com posted this little newslet:

Okay, I just got off the phone with someone at Fox that said that said a "Firefly" DVD was talked about in a meeting they had today. There is no other information regarding this title available, but it IS coming. We'll keep you informed when we receive more information, but nothing more is expected for some time.

Hm. So do I get excited? I mean, that's pretty vague, and Fox is run by gorram Alliance bastards and show-eating Reaver freaks. Fox is not to be trusted. But my beautiful Firefly, on shiny DVDs... I'm pining for this show to an extent that surprises even myself. Please, please, please let this release happen.

There's also a rumor on the A&E boards (chaos!) that there will be a Nero Wolfe DVD release this summer, with preorders being taken as soon as May. But no one seems to know if it'll just be the two episodes that were released on VHS ("The Doorbell Rang" and "The Golden Spiders") or if it'll be a Season One set. I'm really, really hoping for the latter (followed by Season Two, of course). Mayhap I should sacrifice a few nubile maidens and fierce warriors to the DVD gods so that these releases will happen. Should probably buy a DVD player too.

I know it's spring. It was warm(ish) all week, there's asparagus in the stores, hockey is moving into playoffs shortly and the cover story of the NYT Magazine today is about baseball. But I just looked out my window and it's snowing again. Darn it. Go away, winter!

Thanks! I owe so much feedback that I'm completely daunted, but on the plus side that means there's lots of good fic out there, right? Although, is it worth it to go back and post comment on something posted a week or two ago, or should I email comments? Hmm...

Essays are a'coming. There are three parts left, assuming I can control the babble. Three topics left, anyway- Grima and Grendel, Theoden and wyrd, and Theoden, Aragorn (and Boromir) on kings and heroes.

You know, there is no obligation to fb everything -- you can always stick a note on things you write to people about later, which is what I do when I get hopelessly behind!

That's what I usually do. Make a note, decide to email, put off emailing, eventually forget about it. I'm a terrible procrastinator. Oh well.

Ooh, I eagerly await. I don't know anyone else who is reading it, so I'm all alone in my fannish drooling over that book. Which is why I stopped and commented on this entry when I saw it on my friendsfriends list. :)

Yay, someone else who's read it! I really hope it's selling well, because I want more, but like you, I'm the only person I know who's reading it (well, and you, now. heh). And I just don't understand that. How can people (my friends, anyway) overlook such a great book? Tsk, tsk.

Hee! I put it on my interests a while back, and every once in a while I'd check to see if anyone else listed it. And nothing. It was just a coincidence that I saw you mention it.

Maybe if we both cross our fingers, they'll keep putting it out!

I know! It's so wonderful. Cool art, cool story, mysterious anti-hero, dead beautiful woman. And all that tiki lounge atmosphere. So. Great.
