I had something piratical I wanted to post about, but it's sailed out of my brain.
But! Whilst catching up with the sudden explosion of posts from you bright people (LJ was mostly broken yesterday and I was only off the computer for, like, seven hours. How did ya'll manage to post so much so quickly?), I noticed
derryderrydown say "I miss Peter Wingfield's nose." Mmm, Peter Wingfield. Which reminded me...
I first saw these a while ago, but I'd forgotten how cute and weird they were, and I thought there might be others in the same boat (ship). Once upon a time, Peter did a couple of commercials for Sega. Happily, the director of two of them has a website and has them available for Quicktime and Windows Media player (which are the slightly better quality versions, from what I could tell between computer crashes- QT's on the top left, WMP's on the top right, if the helpful pics don't work). There's the sweaty and shirtless in shades flavor and the floppy-haired grad student-y flavor (he looks just like he did in "Methos," which is a Very Good Thing). My video-gaming skills pretty much consist of the ability to transform my hunter-gatherers into a village in "Age of Empires" before the computer crashes and a wicked talent for "Frogger," but having Peter purring "You make all the right moves" in my ear nearly had me heading off to the nearest Future Shop. That is one godawful sexy man.
Okay, back to playing catch-up. If only this infernal machine would cooperate...

Date: 2003-07-30 10:14 am (UTC)Yes! I remember being told of those SEGA commercials with Wingfield, and watching them on my dial-up connection. Worth the wait. :-)
Never did see "Soldier, Soldier" since it didn't air here. Did manage to see some of his Veterinarian series, though.
And
Ah, that nose. That smile. Those eyes. :-)

I only saw what I did (the first season and part of the second) through the grace of a classmate whose mother was English and who couldn't give up her British TV after she got stuck in the North Country with the rest of us. Good show. I'm a little surprised it's never been run on A&E or BBC America, but then it's pretty old. I haven't seen the vet show though, unfortunately. Lucky you!
And declineandfall can testify to my sudden gasp when he appeared on-screen in X-Men 2, since I hadn't been told that he was in it.
Heh. I knew ahead of time, and I still gasped. He has that effect.
