Insert obligatory "LJ sucks like an event horizon (or possibly like Event Horizon), why am I paying for it if it never works, it's taking me twenty minutes to leave each three sentence comment, argh!" comment here (with side note that flipping Quizilla isn't working either, so I can't even combine all my spam in one post). Worst part is that I'm bored and over-caffeinated, so while a movie, a book, or even a long fic would be impossible right now, the channel-hopping qualities of LJ would be perfect. Alas. Evils of faulty technology blah blah.

I went looking for pirate toys online this afternoon, and while he's not as stylish as Jack Sparrow or Barbossa, this fellow is a rather natty dresser. Nice weapons, too (though he's not very cute. Oh well, that's realism for you). He looks more like a statue than an action figure, but personally I don't really need tons of articulation if it's a nice enough sculpt. He's from a new company, Dusty Trails Toys, and will supposedly be released in September. No word on price, though, and detailed, non-licensed figures tend to be expensive. Something to watch for, anyway.

(Super-sekrit message for [livejournal.com profile] declineandfall- What do you think? Would this make a passable Ringo figure? He looks a bit pensive, like he has a song stuck in his head and it's distracting him from his shot. I need to hunt this one down, I think.)

Now I'm getting images of a girl in a padded cell, bouncing off the walls yelling "Arrr!" and "Let me out or I'll thrash ye with a belaying pin!"

I'm going to end up in the New York State Home for the Bewildered, aren't I? Oh well, could be worse. Could be aliens instead of pirates.

Hoffman and his pirate crew totally steal the show from Robin Williams and his Lost Boys

Isn't that always the way? Pirates have more fun (and better clothes).

Honestly I can never remember which is which with Pintel and Ragetti. I think I have it down, and five minutes later I'm back to, "Now which one has the wooden eye?" So it's Ragetti, huh? I need some way to remember that.

Ooh, James, I like that! "James Norrington," how very English. It's not exactly canon, I guess, but at least it has some vague connection to it. Maybe. Sounds good to me, at least (though I suppose any good, sturdy name would work- John, Thomas, Robert, Samuel...)

You so are. Of course, I may be right behind you. At least they might let us play with our LEGO sets if we're good ;)

Oh yes, quite. Big hats, boots, and frockcoats are so much more stylish than tights.

Yup, Ragetti=wooden eye. Nice to know this one, b/c I'm still at a loss as to which lobtser is Murtogg and which is Mullroy. Those actors are completely obscure. No pics to be had anywhere.

I agree, I do like James. Better than John, which is what several fic writers have dubbed him (it's ok, but John makes me think Jack, and we can't have two Jacks). Thomas is nice, too, and for some reason I keep thinking of Edward.

Ooh, I know that one, actually! Your icon is right- Murtogg is the slightly skinnier, slightly, um, dumber one. In the scene where Will is trying to get Norrington and co. to chase after Elizabeth, when he thwocks his little hatchet-thing into the map, Norrington says something like, "Mr. Murtogg, will you remove this man!" or something along those lines (I guess I'll need to see it again to get the exact words, oh darn). And it's the skinner, dumber lobster who hops to. I think. I'm pretty sure. I'll double-check next time (heh, watch me backtrack on my "I know! I know!").

Mmm, two Jacks... I'm sorry, what were you saying? *g* Yeah, that's my problem with calling him John also- I know it was an extremely common name and all, but still, variety is good. Edward works really well, too. Has the right ring to it. My only problem with Thomas (which I do like very much, both for Norrington and in general) is that it's my dad's name. Which isn't bad, of course- it just gives me a wee pause when I see it (which makes reading Prophecy slash... interesting).

Oh, hurrah! Good catch. Double checking is good, but it's so nice to finally have an idea about which is which.

Oh, I quite understand. I have the same problem with Sports Night, in which one male lead is named Dan (my Dad's name is Daniel), and the other is Casey (my little brother's name). This makes reading slash...very weird, to say the least.
