Brimstone, a mini-fandom if ever there was one. Dunno if you ever saw the show, since it only went 13 eps on Evil!Fox (if you missed it, they sometimes show it on SciFi- it's excellent), but the gist was Peter Horton was Ezekiel Stone, a cop who'd been damned for killing his wife's rapist and promptly getting himself killed too. John Glover was Lucifer (fabulous, and funny, and eeeevil). There was a "jailbreak" and 113 damned souls escaped Hell, so Lucifer tapped Zeke to get them back. If he got all 113, he'd be released from Hell (not that we ever got that far), assuming Lucifer was being honest. Ha ha ha! Anyway, it was great show, and Zeke and Lucifer were so fun- snarky and slashy and doomed like a doomed thing. Aw, now I really miss them. :(
