Yesterday's giddiness over the Rosencrantz & Guildenstern announcement hasn't even had time to wear off yet, and I'm hit with this: the complete Reilly, Ace of Spies on DVD in February! I'm torn between another round of gleeful shrieking and some preemptive grieving over the state of my wallet. Argh, I've run out of spare organs I can sell. But it's Reilly... As a wise woman once said, "What is it about Sam Neill that's just so yummy?" I can't resist this particular temptation.
I wish I had some way to post scans from this "Young Romance" comic from 1974 I've just acquired; it's really quite something. At least I can show you the cover, since Mike at Progressive Ruin posted it months ago- check it out (you might have to scroll down a smidge). I have a fatal weakness for romance comics anyway- the more dated and appalling, the more irresistible- but this one looks like it might be the new jewel of my collection. Liz isn't interested in boys? Oh yes, we know what that means. Ow, I'm wincing already. If it's good (which is to say, if it's bad), I'll share. Assuming I'm still able to type after jamming icepicks into my eyes, of course.
I'm not quite clear on why Martin Landau's wasted, hammy guest appearance on Without a Trace last year was nominated for an Emmy, but Jerry O'Connell didn't even get a "What to Watch" nod from TV Guide. I assume it was a matter of one being Martin Landau and the other Jerry O'Connell. What a shame, because he's just so good in this episode. Poor Jerry. It's also a shame to see how good Season Two, itself a pale shadow of Season One, looks in comparison to the current episodes. As frustrating as Joan of Arcadia has been this year, it's not even close to the disappointment of Without a Trace. No wonder NCIS has been steadily winning me away.
