(Mostly for my own reference) The Chicago Tribune on genre tv's difficulties getting and staying on the air: 'Rings' can't work its magic on the small screen, by Maureen Ryan (incidentally, I had a Latin prof. named Maureen Ryan. Doubt it's her, though).

Unfortunate quote in the article from Paul Attanasio, who's producing Century City (starts a week from today): "Really, the trick with sci-fi is to figure out a way to make it about us," he says. "If it's a world you don't recognize, then you shouldn't watch it." Shouldn't? Hm. I do hope that CC is a little more scifi than the two hundred other lawyer shows on right now. I'm not sure Ioan is enough to hook me otherwise.

Lots of exciting movie DVD release news from last night's HTF chat with Warners, but Brimstone got a "no plans... at the moment," and Brisco County got a "no plans." I'm just going to imagine there's an "at the moment" on there so as not to get too depressed. I want my shoooows...

ETA- Must be something in the air: NPR had a piece on genre/cult tv on Talk of the Nation today, including commentary from guests Joss Whedon (yeah, yeah, but he talks about Firefly! Woo!) and... Bruce Campbell. Bruce Campbell! All Hail!
