A meme before bed. Seems a fitting time to look back at my childhood, since tomorrow's my birthday and I'm not dealing with it that well. When did I get so old? Anyway, I nicked this from [livejournal.com profile] elke_tanzer.

Ones that were me are in bold.

Feeling old

Now I am feeling old. Some of the things on that list I wrote for! My tv writing career started on those 80s cartoons. But as one friend of mine in her early 60s says, the secret to not feeling old is having friends older than you are. So, you're still not old. :-) So Happy Birthday!

(Hi! [livejournal.com profile] windrose mentioned your delightful feedback, and when she cheered the other day about you being here, I just had to add you to my own list. -- Kath, who's currently listening to the band Survivor, speaking of the 80s.)

You wrote for Dungeons and Dragons? How keen, that's one of my all-time faves (I had such a crush on Hank. Who cared that he was animated?). You would have been the coolest person ever to my friends and I- we were all such cartoon junkies. And I like your friend's attitude. Of course, these days I seem to hear more "Yay! I've graduated high school!" or "Yay! I'm just starting college!" than things that don't make me feel old, but oh well.

So thank you and hi and welcome!

It's so nice encountering someone else who developed crushes on animated characters! Not that I've exactly stopped doing it. :-)

Yeah, Hank was definitely cool. If you remember the episode with Venger's sister, Karena, that was my first script assignment.

Hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] windrose reminds me of my age, frequently. I have been known to mutter about thumping my cane on the porch next to my rocking chair, all because I saw "Star Wars" when I was 22. If I remember correctly, I'm the same age as Disneyland -- okay, a month older.

My sister used to have that episode on tape (a gift from a very smart friend, I think). We must have watched it a hundred times. Unfortunately it got broken during a move, and it's not like we can replace it. I'm hoping for a DVD release someday- there's a lot of nostalgic affection for the show still, so fingers crossed.

D&D on DVD

I keep hoping. My tapes from the original 3/4" are nearly 20 years old and I swear it's due in large part to keeping them sealed in the production-quality black case that allows them to still be playable. Not that we'd get any money for DVD releases, unlike live-action, but it'd still be way cool. So far two of the series I've worked on are on DVD, with a third upcoming soon.

Thanks! And happy birthday to your mom, too. According to a friend who's into Chinese astrology and the like, today is a particularly auspicious day, so good luck to her!

Your icon is lovely! Usually I don't pay much attention to Jules (poor fella, he just pales next to Phileas), but he looks so cute and cocky in that picture. And Phileas, well, gorgeous as usual.

And thanks muchly! Hey, do you remember when redheads were trendy for a brief moment back then? I wonder if that was Tiffany's fault.

Thank you! Yes, poor Jules does tend to look slightly shabby compared to Phileas, but I found a good pic of the cast where he was actually wearing a good suit. The manip gave me fits, though, so I'm glad you like it!

Hm, I dunno. That moment must've been pretty brief, 'cause I only remember being teased for the red hair. Then I had my turn to laugh at everyone who tried to match the color once I was older *g*

Thanks! And I'm just waiting until the eighties come around for their big fashion and nostalgia revival, like the sixties and seventies did. Scary, scary thought.
