Just a couple of comics-related links before I hie myself back to work, work being organizing all the fic I printed off back when I was in school and had access to free laser printers. I was really into X-Files back then (and Highlander and Sentinel- Highlander is still with me, Sentinel comes and goes). Odd to think how long it's been since I read an X-Files story. Years. Someday when I'm rich I plan to buy the DVDs for seasons 1-6, but I can't seem to get back into the fannish mindset for it. And now I'm feeling all wistful and nostalgic and "La Vie en Alien Bile Green"-ish, so moving right along:

A while back, CBR's Oddball Comic was The Adventures of Manuel Pacifico, Tuna Fisherman, and let me assure you, it more than lives up to its name. Who knew the tuna fishing industry was so exciting in the 1950s? Or so terribly, terribly gay? Seriously, there have been some extremely campy comics bandied about in fannish circles (usually Superman titles, to no one's surprise), but nobody out-camps Manuel. Take a look at some of the scans- they're just lovely.

The other link is to an entry in Sarah Dyer's blog. Sarah is the editor of Action Girl (an all-ages, girl-friendly comic anthology) and a great champion of comics for and by women. Anyway, she summarizes an essay she found in an old romance comic that discussed "how to be a widow and what to do about it." So, so funny. MST3K material indeed.

Back to the fic piles. Aw, Krychek was so pretty. He still had two hands back then. And then there was the glee of a Mulder-glasses sighting. And Pendrell, remember him? Good times, good times.
