Bwa ha ha! Well, almost. I rarely got caught out as an American when I was living there, anyway, but that was in Toronto. Heh.

Oh, neat. The Maya were my first historical love, actually, before I fell for Egypt or Medieval Europe or anything. Years later, in high school, I finally got to the Yucatan and spent weeks sweltering and fumbling through Spanish (I was taking French at the time) and having one of the best summers of my life. Aw, now I want to dig up my pictures and things. Might be time to battle some spiders.

Oh, me, too. Someday I'll get to the Yucutan, but I haven't done it yet.

Oh yeah, definitely keep it on the list. It was amazing. The people were great and the food was delicious, and the ruins... just incredible. I got stuck on top of a bunch of pyramids (very inconvenient fear of heights), remembered to shake out my shoe right before stepping into a scorpion, and have never, ever been hotter, and I'd go back in a minute flat. I was there for a summer and barely skimmed the surface of the ruins I wanted to visit. Incredible place. Definitely worth the trip. *g*
