I started quoting your comments and I was highlighting pretty much everything you said, so suffice to say that your reaction to this article was much like mine. He's approaching and reacting to the show so differently, though, that even if we sat him down and explained how we've been interpreting it and why we don't agree with him, I doubt it'd make any difference. Every time I start to forget how subjective reviewing is, something like this pops up and reminds me. Handy, I guess.
I hadn't noticed much similarity between JoA and JA either, though admittedly I only watch JA every couple of weeks. I mean, you could probably draw some connections between, oh, characters having strong morals but being conflicted or something, but that's the case on lots of shows. The ties definitely aren't as noticeable as with the Bruckheimer shows, I agree.
