His performance made me fall totally in love with Boromir, something the books had never managed to do.

Oh, me too. I didn't hate book!Boromir, but he was far from my favorite character. But SB's performance was so textured and so sensitive that I fell and fell hard for the character. Movie!Boromir is so wonderful that he's even vastly improved my opinion of book!Boromir, which is a nice side effect (though the lack of the visuals and the voice are a shame).
