I really like Jack too, or at least I did the first time I saw all of these. I wanted to smack him sometimes, and I didn't like him as much as Martin/Danny/Vivian, but he was just so fierce and determined that I couldn't help but root for him. But then in the last three episodes he annoyed me so badly that I could barely stand to watch him. So the reruns have been really good for reminding me why I liked him in the first place, I guess. And he and Chet always make me cry. There's such good acting on this show.
