Argh. Okay. For the last... three days or so, I've lost track... when I try to leave or answer comments (yes, the number one thing most likely to broken on my LJ at any given time), I get the old "ha ha we're not working" message, even though nothing is officially wonked on the system at the moment. But if I open a new page, open LJ, go back to where I was and try to post my comment again, it works. Usually. But only if I open a new page every single time. Like I said, argh. It's many, many times slower and more annoying than if the damn thing just worked in the first place, and I have no idea what's up. So at the moment I have one eye on that technological scuffle, and the other eye reading comic books (comic-eye had been reading Beowulf- surprise!- but that wasn't helping me stay calm). I look like an irritated flounder.

While I'm here, the 'what I'll be watching this season' meme )

or really, apropos of the tempting vanilla-cinnamony-creamy aroma drifting through my house.

What is the matter with Mary Jane?
She's perfectly well and she hasn't a pain,
And it's lovely rice pudding for dinner again!-
What is the matter with Mary Jane?

A. A. Milne, of course. I was a bit surprised to see all those italics when I double-checked my memory against my copy of When We Were Very Young. Nice to see that I'm not the only one to fall prey to their emphatic wiles. He resisted the wicked ellipses, though. Good man.
