GIP! Woo hoo!
Mar. 31st, 2004 06:23 pmOooh baby. Y'all can keep your Ben McKenzies and Eliza Dushkus; I'm satisfied with my man Bill. Oh yeah. My weakness for geeks knows no age limits.
I believe the moral of this story would indeed be, "Never dare an icon maker." Appreciate them instead! I certainly appreciate
aithine, maker of this most sexalicious tribute to Monsieur Moyers, even though she's mad, mad I tell you! Ahem. Thanks, Aithine!
I also appreciate the makers of all of my other terribly shiny icons:
castalianspring,
carolinecrane,
alethialia,
cruisedirector,
ide_cyan,
lanning,
mimesere,
afrai,
jidabug,
icepixie,
tzikeh,
ranaeros,
wesleysgirl,
melime,
cmshaw,
serrico,
taraljc,
jacklemmon,
lannamichaels,
megl42,
_extraflamey_, and
sihaya09. Without their talents, my LJ would be a desert of drab. Brava!
And while I'm here, kaiju! Popmatters has fourteen essays on Godzilla at 50. The only one I've read so far is Bill Gibron's "A Giant Lizard's Home Companion," in which he discusses MST3K and Godzilla vs. Megalon, one of the lamest entries in the Godzilla canon, but a sentimental favorite of mine because it was the first one I ever saw. Strangely, Godzilla barely appears in it. Instead, most of the plot revolves around the cut-rate Atlanteans of "Seatopia" and their killer cockroach, Megalon, and, on the side of Good, a rather feeble robot named Jet Jaguar and his humans, a terrifyingly 70's gay couple and their annoying son, Kenny (possibly not his real name). It's no surprise that Megalon is not one of the stars featured on this cool page of Godzilla origami. He just can't measure up to Mothra or Ghidorah, poor bug.
Also, Deadwood has been picked up for a second season already. Amazing, a western with a chance at success, even if it only needs to get cable numbers. With luck it'll also be released on DVD and I'll get to see it.
Two days until Hellboy. It's going to be good. I have faith in Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman. They wouldn't break my heart, they just wouldn't.
God I'm tired.
