Hail, bright Caecilia! Well, sorta
Sep. 30th, 2003 03:34 pmRandom and spammy, but I just wanted to say "yay!" for a couple of neat music-themed moments I've seen recently (yeah, they're vaguely spoilery and yeah, I'm not cutting them. They're not important to the plot. Live it up a little!). Dunno why they popped into my head this morning. My mind has a mind of its own.
- In Once Upon a Time in Mexico, I love the moment in the fight in the church (a muy fun scene in general), when El Mariachi wraps his arms around the guitar the old man made for him, caresses it, plays a bit, and then sacrifices it over the baddie's head, kersmash! Aw. Pobrecito. But I'm sure the guitar understood.
The soundtrack for that movie is fabulous. It's a good thing CDs don't wear out like cassettes. Even the dialogue clips don't get on my nerves, like usual. Fun, fun, fun.
- In Joan of Arcadia, I love the moment right after she gets sent to the office for being a smartapple in French class. She's pouting along when, ahhh! Attack of the heavenly choirs! But no, it's not Teen!God being stalkery again. It's just the school choir rehearsing (and sounding miles better than any school choir I've ever heard). Clever, amusing and a little offbeat, it was a nice touch of a throw-away scene.
This week's Joan is titled "The Fire and the Wood." Ooh. I have only the vaguest idea of what it's about, and the preview at the end of last week's ep wasn't very illuminating, but the title, at least, is good.
