May. 16th, 2003 06:00 pmI haven't been paying much attention to next season's new show prospects yet, because A)- it's too early and B)- I don't care. But as I was reading the today's paper, the blurb for one of them caught my eye. Joan of Arcadia. Apparently, in this show, young Joan is a modern-day girl, the caretaker for her TV-typical "damaged family" and her police chief dad (Fat Tony. Um, Joe Mantegna). Oh, and every week God appears to her in a different form and gives her advice.
Er... what? Now I'm a big Joan of Arc fan and all, but this show sounds like... a mistake. To be nice. Of course I thought Touched by an Angel sounded like a mistake, and that was on for approximately 2,000 years, so one could say that I underestimate the viewing public's appetite for feel-good, greeting-card-Christian pap. We'll see next season, I guess.
