Help! Help!

Does anyone know an effective, natural way to get rid of ants? Big ones. In my kitchen! Which is clean, so what are they doing there?! If I can avoid poisons, so much the better, but I have to admit that my first thought this morning was, "Hm, where can I get DDT these days? Or napalm, maybe napalm..."

Yes, I was traumatised by Them! as a child.

Geeky Whining

Way back in early February, I preordered a couple of LotR action figures, Galadriel and the Prologue Elf Warrior. Soon, I imagined, soon they'd join Boromir, the hobbity herd, all the various Legolases and the rest of my vast AF hoard of characters from BTVS, Enterprise, Smallville and the rest, and all would live (or not, I guess) in geeky harmony. Except here we are in late April, and I still have no Galadriel or Prologue Elf warrior. I know they're out there. They're all over Ebay, and my one true love Collin at All Nerd Review posted his review of them a couple of weeks ago. I emailed the shop and asked what's the deal, and they said stress not, they're coming. Eventually. Guys, how about you go buy me one off Ebay if you've run out of stock? I want my toys!

I could just cancel my order, I suppose, and I may yet. But it's a shop I've bought from many times before, and I like them. I'd rather they get my hoarded pennies than some stranger. Still... I've waited long enough. I want my toys!

Whee! I just had a show added to the TVShowsOnDVD.com voting database for the first time ever! Yes, Joan, embrace your geek power! Woo! Power!

Heh, okay, all maddened ravings aside- what is TVShowsOnDVD.com? Well, as you can probably guess from the name, it's a website where you can vote for TV shows to be released on DVD (see? clever!), as well as check on release dates, news, reviews and so forth. Does it work? Honestly, I couldn't tell you. In some cases, probably. In others, I doubt it. The site PTB are in contact with some of the production companies and folks who hold the fates of our shows in their claws, and they seem to have made their voices heard in some cases. It can't hurt, certainly. I vote for my shows and keep all my fingers and toes crossed that they'll be released, but mostly I go to the site for news and dates.

So what show did I have added? Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy. Go ahead and laugh, I can take it. I loved that show, silly CBC production or not (if you have no idea what this show was, it was Canadian, short-lived, and terribly fun. Feel free to ask, I love to talk about it). I'd be absolutely thrilled to see it on DVD, though if CBC would just throw on repeats on, like, Sunday afternoons, I'd be happy and leave them alone.

Anyway, go, sign up, and vote for your favorite shows, and maybe sometime in this lifetime we'll see shows like Magnificent Seven, Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., Jim Henson's The Storyteller, or Now and Again on DVD. (Oh, and go vote for Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy! Please!)
