Without a Trace
Eeeeee! Martin and Danny! Love love love! Most of the episode was frustrating or unhappy, but for one shining scene at the end, all of that mess was mere background noise to the song of Young Fibbies in Love.
Poor Danny gets all bent out of shape because he's certain Martin's going to run off with, I mean, sell Jack out to the slimy IA-type guy. So, hot-tempered guy that he is, he picks a fight with Martin over his suspected disloyalty and his supposed hiding behind his Jerk Father's lofty position (there's always a Jerk Father, isn't there). Aw, no winks or cheeky grins for Martin today. Martin's just as hurt in return that Danny doesn't trust him, especially since Martin has been trying to throw himself on his sword to save Jack and didn't even know that his Jerk Father was meddling again. Poor Martin. Lied to by his beloved boss, meddled with by Jerk Father, and yelled at by his bitter (misguided) boyfriend. So he yells at Jack and Jerk Father, stomps back to the office and prepares to join the rest of the team in career-suicide-land. Alas, he thinks, soon he'll be jobless, Dannyless and probably not Jerk Fatherless, since those never seem to go away. But then... Danny's brains have grown back! He assures Martin that they make a good team and they can run off to sell shoes together. No one, not slimy IA-type guys, not lying but beloved bosses and especially not Jerk Fathers can tear them apart! Huzzah for love!
Seriously, this episode annoyed me at many points (not the least of which was confirmation that Jack and Sam have indeed had an affair, which I was hoping against hope would turn out not to have been true), but the last scene with Martin and Danny was just too sweet. Their fight earlier was an unhappy flash back to their tense beginnings, but then Danny piped up with his "whither thou goest to the shoestore" bit, and I just melted. Sweet smiles and loving looks from both the boys, and all was happy for a minute in one of my favorite microfandoms. If only I wrote WaT fic! If only lots of people wrote WaT fic!
