I probably shouldn't title this post "Keep the Yuletide Gay," right? Thought not.

If you have a bit a spare cash this holiday season (I know, I don't either, but still), please consider tossing a donation the way of Prism Comics, a "nonprofit organization that advocates for greater inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) characters and creators in the comic book industry." It's a good cause and they're nice folks, but as you might imagine, nonprofit queer comics advocacy groups tend not to be rolling in dough. Donations are tax-deductible, or you can always buy a copy (or many copies!) of their annual LGBT Guide to Comics (here's Johanna Draper Carlson's review). Prism Comics 2004 is 128 pages, digest-sized, and includes "QueerYear in Review 2004," interviews with creators like Phil Jimenez, Jose Villarrubia, and Alison Bechdel (sadly a teeny two-pager, but better than nothing), preview excerpts from Donna Barr, Robert Kirby, Eric Shanower (yay!) and others, and exclusive comics by Tim Fish, Leanne Franson, Kris Dresen (krisdresen- yay, new Max and Lily!) and others, plus the handy "Creator Profiles" section. No Elizabeth Watasin art like in the 2003 edition (aw), but the 2004 one is attractively packaged, shows some nice variety and has a good deal of useful information. It's worth getting one if you can, and it'll support a good cause.
